I don't think you've truly experienced DayZ until you've hancuffed someone, stripped them of their clothes, put a burlap sack on their head and forcefed them rotten food...
Only to release them and have them fistfight another captive to death for 1 dose of antibiotics.
The standalone is a pretty good experience given how far it has yet to go. I cannot say I'm disappointed with the 80+ hours I've already put into it, and the beauty is that it'll only get better.

i think you'll find you've not truly experienced it until you and a friend stalk someone on Lingor for an hour who has found a chopper but no fuel. track him to the top island and crawl for 20 mins to get near him, then take him out.

an hour of stalking leading to about 3 shots fired....but it pretty much sums up the varied gameplay of dayz....
These vids are a good indicator of the fun you can have in dayz (and lingor)

Okay guys, I cannot wait to play now! Anyone on tonight?
24th January 2014, 01:17 PM #186
i might be but because my wrist is knackered i can't play more than an hour or so using the mouse before it hurts so i'm trying to keep off of games using the mouse as long as possible.
i think (personally speaking) its better starting off on your own. if you start off with people around you, you sort of feel protected and that element of "crap i could die any minute" lessens. the first few times you play should be the element of being scared to die. i know when i started, i was so precious about my kit, being so careful not to be seen. when i played with others, it didnt matter as much as if i died there was a good chance they'd protect the body/take my stuff or someone would have spares....so it was more like a respawn.

I'll get another mate of mine, who hasn't played DayZ before either to come on with me! :P Let the fun commence!

I was mad into DayZ about 14 months ago, I'm betting it's moved on a bit since then (never heard of Lingor until this thread!) but I love the idea of a) a new place to explore and b) gearing up quicker.
@L3OUGH I'll PM you my Steam ID, and hopefully will be on tonight from about 8pm onwards

Monday = parts ordered, Wednesday = machine back up and running...so brace yourselves when I come on!

I'll be on from whenever Commander and Lingor are done downloading! @nephilim does that mean you'll be on tonight/this weekend then! :P
