4th May 2012, 11:28 AM #1 Elder Scrolls MMO announced
Yes, boys and girls. It's true. Bethesda have announced that the Elder Scrolls series is to become an MMO. I know from the Skyrim thread that we have a few Geekers here that are interested in the series.
Catch the news here:
June Cover Revealed: The Elder Scrolls Online - Features - www.GameInformer.com

and this is worth a read/listen: The Elder Scrolls Online's Massive Soundtrack Could Unite All of Tamriel
How epic is this going to be?
Will it ruin the game?
Is it what we've always wanted?
And most importantly - will us geekers be roaming Tamriel together? (or gutting each other) ;-)

4th May 2012, 11:44 AM #2 Heard about this last night, my OH jumped out of her skin when I cheered in excitement!
I can't imagine me not getting it, having loved Skyrim and wishing I could have played with others.

4th May 2012, 11:45 AM #3 I wonder if they're going to go down the 'sharded' route like most MMOs or are they going to go with a single 'universe' like Eve online?
It'll be interesting if they pull it off - it would make an epic environment for an MMO.

4th May 2012, 12:35 PM #4 Time to say goodbye to what's-left of my social life!
Looks damn nice. Love Skyrim with a passion (379 hours recorded on Steam, O.O) so this'll be a nice bonus

4th May 2012, 01:13 PM #5 should be good. Bags I be the first one to hack Mattx to death when the Edugeekers form a clan.
(Btw I'm pants at most games so the reverse of the above will probably be true)

4th May 2012, 02:11 PM #6 I have 133 hours on Skyrim on Steam, as I never touched it again after SW:TOR was released. After realising Star Wars was a pile of rubbish, I'm playing Skyrim until Guild Wars 2 comes out (see my other thread about that).
My most embarrassing Steam statistic is 1146 hours on RIFT. Whoops.
But yes. Elder Scrolls MMO. Eagerly anticipating further news about this. @localzuk - The single-server model like EVE would be fantastic. I've always wanted to see more of that in an MMO, but would the game world be big enough to accommodate thousands of players at once? The cities of Tamriel are not that big, and in reality would only be classed as towns (if that). Some are only a few buildings. They'd either need to considerably scale up (remember the relatively small size of the Imperial City?) or keep to small servers.

9th November 2012, 12:35 PM #7 Bringing this one back (no point in a new thread) with exciting news - Bethesda have released a whole 9 minute video developer diary with lengthy gameplay shots.
Have a look: The Elder Scrolls Online - Gameplay Video - IGN Video
In relation to my last post here, @localzuk , they are indeed going for a single-server model. The video details all. I have renewed hope in this game now, and will be coordinating a guild for it nearer the time.

9th November 2012, 01:05 PM #9 Thanks for reminding me about this Mako, completely forgot it was being developed! My taste of excitement for this has returned, I think it's safe to say we've all been waiting for something like this for a long time for Elder Scrolls.
On a slighty off-topic note, I'd love to see something like this for newer-Fallout. Do you reckon they'd consider it if this turns out to be a success?

9th November 2012, 02:38 PM #11 Cool but is it pay-to-play?
That said I'm still addicted to GW2 so can't even think of any other game(s) yet.

9th November 2012, 03:33 PM #12 As awesome as this is and how I want to be excited about it, I can too easily see it being ruined with a terribly managed wallet dipping store supporting an otherwise average game. Just like every other MMO released lately.

14th November 2012, 06:20 PM #13 I'd just like some sort of co-op add on to skyrim that allowed my character and my friends to go on an adventure in a separate dungeon somewhere. Ive played morrowind onwards for hours, but MMOs put me off as I don't have the time to invest in them that they need.
