Wow account hacked while on holiday
I return to find I've been hacked, my gold gone and any high value sell able item gone.
I had a good password, an email address that isn't my usual and a gaming PC that is never used on the web.
Second time its happened in the history of the account.
Seems fishy to me.

Have you seen the big bang theory? If so you should do what Sheldon does

Calls the police. Tracks down the person who hacks his account then gets a girl to beat him up

lol, might just take it as an omen and give up on wow again.

That was what eventually caused me to stop playing. Unfortunately it was too late to save my degree

Its weird, I know how to be secure online, I knew the precautions to take since I was hacked before (when my account was disabled, they re-activated and added new CC details).
They knew I was away, did it, and changed no other settings, details, passwords, authenticator or ANYTHING!

Do you share your house with anyone? Could it be a family member/flat mate doing it to wind you up? Ever logged in at work? Maybe a colleague?

Alternatively, if you have a missus, could she be doing it to make you quit?
Think outside the box lol

Home PC, all family and missus on holiday with me, never played anywhere else but that single PC.
Only other thing is the wow armoury on my iphone.

How long ago was the first hacking? Could be a keylogger if they are close. These are the possible and often overlooked causes no matter how complicated your password is:
- Game password same as E-Mail password.
- Poor E-Mail password in the first place (likely cause of first hacking plus once you have the E-Mail password, reset is easy).
- Login details re-used on guild or related (even forgotten about) website and that was breached (a lot more common then people realise, especially if they put in their game E-Mail address and their password no matter what username they pick).
- Phishing attempt was succesful, had any Blizzard E-Mails lately? Or even for other games where you may have re-used login details?
- Your security question being stupidly easy to guess. Can even be revealed with "pimp name" style games on social networks.

I use a battle.net authenticator, means you need my email/password and a time sensitive code generated on my phone. It does get annoying sometimes when my phone is not next to my PC but I'd rather suffer through and not loose my stuff.
When my brother got hacked it was his email account not his WoW, they just clicked forgot password and waited for the email.

No viruses, no compromised email accounts, totally different passwords for both. Different passwords for sites and games etc.
Been years since I was hacked before.
They cleared my main char of his gold, guild tabbard and teleport to org cloak. Didnt touch any other char and just created a mule char to ship it.
Seems it was done in a hurry. Seems very weird to me, didnt trigger the mobile alerts I have set up too as nothing was changed.

Bliz restored my account with no issues.
Ive added the authenticator as I still can not find how it was compromised and also decided to cancel until the new expansion is released.
Might get diablo 3

Weren't they doing an offer of getting D3 for free if you subbed to WoW for a year?
