    x3: reunion

Picked this up at the weekend and have been playing it on and off all week. Its a space combat/trading/etc game like elite/freelancer/EVE.

Anyone else playing it? How far have you got?

My dad just had it delivered from play.com as he loved X2 - not looked at it myself and probably wont :/ Not really my type of game - altho I did play the old elite on the BBC
OT: Im currently hooked on a custom map for Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne, its called Defence of the Ancients Allstars (www.dota-allstars.com).

I've played all the X Universe games. All are great. I'll get X3 at some point. You need to be patient with it though. Can get tedious in some bits.

    Re: x3: reunion

    Elite rulez indeed lol

Never played X at all but always fancied a blast on it. Probably [in the early days] was too busy playing Frontier: Elite II on my Amiga. Countless hours gone there but i do know alot of orchestrial songs [even if I cant spell the word properly]

I shall have to have a blast on X3 sometime - or is it better to start from the begining?

Depends if you care about the storyline or not. There's enough info in X3 to get a fair grasp on the plot from previous installments. Plus you get a big paperback book to read too.

I lost over a year of my life to EvE! It was a damned compelling game and I made a lot of lasting friendships through it, but in the end it just required too much of my time. I do miss it, but not enough to go back.

Agreed rob - i played it for a while [thanks to a free trial from PC Zone methinks] and subscribed for a bit, but its was just tooo complex for me and tho the chat thing was handy, it was too time consuming too.

Wasnt pickup able really, whereas FF online's storyline is based on your own accomplishments etc. They just expand the world overtime so theres always more to do.

I know that the same could be said for Eve but it was just toooo much storyline and though I loved the 'space', just not enough time to read everything and all the news all the time.

FF XI engrosses me enough lol

    /digression over hehe
