It's good - I like the open world, but was disappointed that you can't swim at all?! I took a right at the start looking for something to smash, and found a couple of surfer zombies, but then almost drowned by walking on the bottom of the water for a bit - you can't even see where you're going!
I've read a few reviews saying you can change the attack style so you direct blows with the joypads, but couldn't see a setting in the options, is this something I learn soon or have I just missed something obvious?
in options under controls you should have the option to change attack method (i think its called) and its like analogue/keyboard and mouse on the pc.
the clipping/free roam is a bit annoying. the fact you can get near somewhere but then it just blocks you. it would have been nice for a gta/just cause 2 style level where you can see it all and get to it all, even if its dangerous and you die, its your choice

23rd September 2011, 10:13 PM #47 @MK-2 - Do you have Dead Island on Steam? If so, whats your Steam name so I can add you to my friends list?

24th September 2011, 09:35 AM #48 I'm Rawns (aka, The Green Bastard) on Steam. If anyone wants to kill zombies, just add me!

I've added you (should be listed as Dopefish).
I've just completed the single player, and you get the chance to go back and do the story again from scratch, but with yr lvl and items staying. so i'm now lvl 40ish with my weapons, but at the resort. so let me know if you fancy a game as it should be fun!

I'm sure I'll be on most nights having a bash for a couple of hours. Just keep your eye's peeled on your Friends list and just msg me/jump straight in.
In the city at the moment and think I wondered into one of those "high risk" areas by accident yesterday as the undead just kept coming and coming non-stop. I got my arse handed to me and all my weapons were useless so in the ed, I had to run for dear life back to the church!

i'll be honest, even when i could handle most of them in the city, there were times i just ran straight to a waypoint, done it and ran back. ive found if in trouble, jump on a car as only infected can get up there. you can then either crouch to take heads off, or time it and run and jump off the roof and run away.
i think the city was the hardest for me too, one wrong turn and you end up facing loads.
word of advice, if you pick up a gun, keep it. you will need it for certain areas of the city

I've specialised in bladed weapons but do happen to have a hand gun and MG for those pesky humans! >

I am yea. Not to worry though, you can have more then one character in a game. I had a quick 3 man session and all of us were her. I think she's the fave as she's specialised in blades.

Question: Have you come across this thing yet? I've seen the normal sized ones, but not this beast!

26th September 2011, 03:17 PM #59 They are okay... just dont be in the way when they charge at you. A few (well 5-8) bullets in the back will take them down, or a couple of gas canisters (shot at)

and the easiest way to kill them is to stand by a wall, wait til he's nearly on you then dodge (space and left/right to jump) and then just keep slicing his back or legs and just move as he turns to kick. then repeat.
there are only a few special infected really:
thug - big strong buggers
suicider - the weird ones who blow up when you get near
ram - the hannibal lecter type
floater - first met in the sewers in the city, they are like the boomer of l4d
butcher - vicious ba***rds who are quick and strong. first met in the jungle.
after that all you meet are varying levels of them.
here's the description i was on about:
Appearance: A Zombie that can be mistaken to have a towering height when approached. It wears a straight jacket and a Hannibal Lecter styled mask on his face which prevents any biting or striking.
