What do the people who are ordering BF3 think about this...?

EA’s Origin EULA Proves Even More Sinister - Rock, Paper, Shotgun

As spotted by the canny denizens of the Escapist forum, there is a quite extraordinary clause in the EULA of EA’s new game service, Origin. One that may well make you think twice about letting the software on your PC. Under the title of “Consent to Collection and Use of Data”, the clause states that by installing Origin you are giving EA permission to “collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer, operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware.”

Which is to say, if you want to play Battlefield 3, or any other game that will require Origin to run, you’re going to have to agree to that.

    [...]

What you’re agreeing to is for EA to have a free pass to scan your PC and gather absolutely anything it wants.

    Deus EX: HR
    Dark Souls
    MGS HD Collection

The yearly cash cow war games, seem like they play no different from the last generic FPS the companies churned out I don't understand the fascination. Still boycotting all EA games.

Sickening. I know Steam collect hardware info only and that's only annually for their hardware surveys (to which they publish them results for everyone to view), but to effectively agree to EA scanning/collecting ANYTHING they want to? People should seriously consider this despite the crack addict-like urge to play BF3.

Maybe this should be discussed in depth in a new thread?

I generally dislike EA and the above will do nothing to help that.

Unfortunately Origin will be required for BF3 so I'm going to be suckered in regardless. I J'adore Steam as it goes, it really is a great application and I've never been messed around by Valve.

I'm assuming the software usage clause will be used to check for pirated EA games or to steal web history so they can adequately pump advertising to you through Origin.

    Some good games I've not thought to look at there, thanks. Here's my t'penny's worth;

Deus Ex HR - was good fun, but some dissapointing moments.
Space Marine - One on the best polished games I have played in a long time, fantasic shooty/hacknslash
if they are going to continue to release content for co-op I am in in in!
Arma 3- wow! I din't know about this one, arma 2 was amazing. amaz-za-zing.
BF3 - this is going to be epic sauce, they always deliver, hope its not riddled with bugs on release day.
Mass Effect 3 - If you have not played through the other, then what the hell are you waiting for. This series is
excellent. Thick with plot and characters you will care for.
Skyrim - I am most excited about this game and the prospect of more Blood brotherhood quests. Gonna need a new
gfx card tho (550ti 1gb at the moment)

Can't think of much else. Prey 2 looked pretty cool.

    edit:

MW3 will be pretty good, the single player tho and the co-op. The multi-player can 'deleted expletive'

Probably not at the moment but I'm on the look out for guilds for it. All my current work colleagues are expecting to play as Sith and I can't be having that!

Once a release date is set I will survey if we should be a good or bad guild as I have SWTOR preordered.

Started playing dead island yesterday it seems pretty good. Playing it on the PC with an xbox pad and you really should switch your controller to analogue mode so you can direct your wepon hits to break arms and cut heads off better. Also playing rock of ages on the xbox arcade and Driver SF, both great fun!
