Hi all
Just wondering if any of you are playing Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar:
http://www.lotro-europe.com/index.php
I pre-ordered it to give it a try, having just missed out on the beta [it closed the same day as i signed up typically lol I was just too slow lol], so I got the early access key [meaning i cud download the client and get started].
If any of you are playing or interested in playing it, gimme a shout so we can team up.
From what I've seen so far, i like it.
Its got a Neverwinter Nights [1] feel to it but better - and its middle earth - and its a MMO!
Anyhow... work to do..
Later

Re: Calling all Middle Earth fans...
I'd love to try it as a long time MMORPG fan but not sure I have the time, between work, organising selling my house and getting the fiancee to ditch a lifetimes worth of CR@P she's accumulated I've got my hands full.
Oh and boobies, I have to have boobies! They're more fun than any game! :-D

I'd vote for that lol
In fact, perhaps a vote of the month should be started on 'ere lol
But anyhow....
I cant quite remember what server i'm on - but it is the EN-RP one
The interesting one is on this game that you can create up to 5 different characters per server/world. No idea yet how they all vary but the night is young as they say.
Geoff, I'll catch you later on MSN [plus no point of pre-ordering now that it is out lol].

Fair enough. I shall pop down 'Ye Local Games Shoppe' after work and obtain a copy.

Not to likely to buy and play that (PC would probably emit smoke, a thin, high scream, and die. However, I am reading The Children of Húrin

I love Middle-Earth, I am a very big JRRT (and CRRT) fan and I think it was bloody stupid to have Elves at Helm's Deep (there was only 1 bloody Elf at Helm's Deep!!!)
I am not likely to get it though since I play games on Mac OS X and I am quite happy with WoW anyway.
I would also get annoyed with those |4m3rs that insist on trying to speak in Quenyan ... but get it wrong!
Long live the Noldori!

I was in the Beta for it for quite some time.
Never really grabbed me. I got several characters up to around the early 20s, but it just seemed quite dull and samey. The graphics were fantastic though, and it did have a very good middle earth feel (aside from the horrible character animations).
But as I say, it just didnt hold my attention. I found the gameworld pretty small, and I hated the fact that there was no mordor, no gondor, no rohan, no minas tirith etc in the game. I know they are saying they are adding those in later, but at what price I wonder..and in how long? Cause the thing is I am very much looking forward to Pirates of the Burning Sea MMO, which looks fantastic, and is a nice break from the elf-dwarf-wizard norm of these games...and I am even more looking forward to Warhammer Online, as I tend to enjoy PvP most in this genre. With those coming (as well as the utterly gorgeous looking Age of Conan), I just dont think I can justify myself waiting for them to add more content to LOTRO.
I do think LOTRO will be a success...I think if anything does hinder it, it might be that boredom sets in fast (at least it did for me, and for some other veteran MMO players I know in beta), perhaps newer folks to the MMO scene will last longer though. Or possibly it might be a content issue which may pose a problem..Turbine after all did have a severe content problem with Dungeons and Dragons Online which caused many to leave, and LOTRO felt alot like it to me in beta.

I'd hope they have learnt from their previous mistakes then :S
I'm still weighing up the lifetime subscription [100 big ones] as at least its bought etc then. Been playing and will continue to play Final Fantasy Online, but I dont really want two MMO subscriptions taking place.
FF online is only a fiver a month presently which is great - good ol' exchange rate to thank there i think
- but if i was to pay 6-monthly on LOTRO, it would be £35 each 6 months, and still dont yet know what the normal per month amount is lol so i'm trying to find the time to play the game and see whether I'm going to want to play it.
I guess the beauty of the lifetime subscription is that once you've got it, theres no pressure to play the game really.
Having played FF online for 3.5-ish years, i wish I'd had a opportunaty to buy a lifetime subscription for that - wud have been a hell of a saving
Regards
Nath.
