I was (and still are) a bit of a Star Trek geek so had to be-

Star Trek New Worlds (took ages to find a PC that will run this!)
Star Trek Bridge Commander (runs great on anything :P)
Star Trek Birth of the Federation (little bit glitchy but as turn based stragetys go its great!)

Going back further, the two Star Trek adventure games were good too, 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites.

Birth of federation...be ferengi and set up trade routes to everyone, then bribe everyone to be in your alliance, when you have mated out on technology on every planet, go nuts against federation first, then cardassians, then romulans then klingons...excellent strategy that never fails for me

Great fun, a small games company are revamping it for release soon. Really hope they do it justice.
Worth checking out, I'll try and put some links in at lunch.

its a shame the xbox arcade version of this is just plain wrong they have changed the music to something dreadful (or at least it just dosent sound right in the way offspring does) and all the branding has gone so its "take me to the pizza place" rather than pizza hut

wonder if they will ever do a new version of this could be fun multiplayer over t'net

personal fave, was the metal slug series on the neo geo. I had a friend whose dad did something working closely with snk and he always had the latest games and hardware for the neogeo, including some mad motion sensitive glove thing that never made it to production. It was proper cool!
