Rolling monthly sub here.
Monthly sub here. It's nice as I have to manually pay each month so if I laps in playing, I don't keep paying automatically when I'm not touching it.
I am a casual player, not loot / item obsessed.
I've been in a few of the older raids and a couple of the WotLK ones; but not very much.
I find using the random dungeon finder to be enough, but more over I like wandering about questing and helping guildes where I can.
I also like the archeology and collection professions which means my main is minted so if I really wanted good kit I could pay for it but the kit I got from dungoens and particularly finishing all areas in Cata is good enough for what I want.
Personally I'd join a PvP server (and have done), it's great fun to be able to fight the *spits* alliance while out and about, not just in the battle grounds.
Don't even bother with hardcore raiding guild applications if you want to have a normal life, there are plenty of casual raiding / social guilds you can get in to quite easily (ime).
I've got an Orc Warrior, Orc Death Knight, Undead Warlock, Blood Elf Mage and a Tauren Paladin, by far the most satisfying fun class to play I've found is Warlock. I hated my priest so much it got deleted at level 12, my shaman went the same way at 6, my hunter didn't make it past 4.
IME I'd say find a server and stick to it, that way you can pass items etc. between your characters.

Karazhan mainly; my DK is on Azjol Nerub though.
Ahhhhh, thats OK then. If you were on Agamaggan, you would be in for a world of hurt!
If you want a fun easy to play casual game i would also put a vote in for Rift. I play Rift and WoW currently and WoW is all about end game/items etc, levelling is just something you do to get there. Rift on the other hand is new for everyone, no-one really knows what they are doing yet and levelling and grouping is actually part of the experience.
Chuck Norris created WoW but he decided not to play it though as he would easily destroy everyone with a single roundhouse kick. Even while he was Lvl 1.
If you do decide to play, please let one of us (me I hope ) refer you.
Doing so has various benefits for both players.
See the refer a friend scheme.
Best if you choose the same realm as your referee though.
At the moment this is all theoretical... I pretty much just lost one of my jobs, so about a third of my income is going to dissapear in a few weeks.
