Now developersí PS3s are hit by system errors | Game Development | News by Develop

Apparently PS3 Dev units are stuck in an endless reboot, so it's not looking good for Sony at the moment!

Saw this problem this morning as I thought I'd clock up half an hour on Fallout before work. Noticed the clock straight away, had to manually set as it wouldn't update via the 'net. Tried to sign in and found this...

Sodding thing made me think my router was playing silly efforts.

Checking on the 'net found everyone has the same issue.

    Sony, I am.... unimpressed

So when was this update released?
Does it definitely only affect fat PS3s?
Most importantly....when I get home and try to use my PS3 tonight, will it be borked?

It's not an update - but one may well be required to fix this...

So far - only the 'fat' PS3s are suffering from this issue, so yes - if you have an older one it will be borked until sony sort it.

    according to the reports, yes.

only if you have a fat PS3 that isn't one of the 160GB ones (apparently they don't have the problem).

Sony have acknowledged the problem. See statements.

My mood wasn't helped this morning by the resultant forum found by googling the error.

The first two results were full of XBox fanboys proclaiming comments along the lines of "Ours is better! Lolololoio".

I don't dislike the XBox, actually it's a very good system. I just dislike the fanboyism that happens (This goes for anything like Xbox/PS3, Microsoft/Apple, Spots/Stripes, Cats/Dogs and Ninjas/Pirates!)

...Although we ALL know Ninjas are superior!

    lol

i agree, both consoles have thier good and bad points and neither is better all round, and comments like "you should have got a 360" dont help at all.

Why didnt sony test the date system with leap years etc...? this error should have come up if they tested an even non leap year. Could it be that sony didnt test to see if it would still be working in 2010 because they intended to force feed us the ps4 by now?

Why didn't Microsoft test the Xbox in a real situation, where heat might have been produced rather than just turning the machine on.
