WoW using an anticheat system called 'The Warden'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warden_%28software%29
However, most 'professional' cheaters (read chinese gold farmers) use another PC on the same lan to intercept and modify data traffic going between the client and the server. Something The Warden is incapable of catching.

Blizzard have banned all linux users as the game is only licenced to be used on windows. Massive post on the offical forums about it. A dev said if you use Linux to play wow you will get banned.
The EULA actually states you're not allowed to use '3rd party software'. I'm not sure if an entire OS stack counts.Blizzard have banned all linux users as the game is only licenced to be used on windows. Massive post on the offical forums about it. Anyway how about a link to that forum post?
Transgaming say they are working with Blizzard engineers to fix the issue and identify any accounts that have been mistakenly banned because of Cedega.
Here's my link.

it's not an OS stack issue Geoff in order for you to run wow which is a windows application in Linux you have to run it in an emulator which is a 3rd party program. The game was written by BLizzard for Windows it says windows on the box and not Linux via 3rd party emulator on the requirements on the box, so BLizzard are right.
What I read was..... "WoW forces 400,00 people to GET A LIFE"

Did WinXP 64Bit users get banned too then? Because the 32bit environment in WinXP64 is emulated.
The important thing is...WoW roxxors![]()

Link? you are the one quoting the EULA, is WINE and CEDEGAR not 3rd party programs then? or does WOW run after a normal install on Linux, does it even install?

Wine is a Linux compatibility library that implements the Win16 & Win32 API.WINE and CEDEGAR not 3rd party programs then
Cedega is a Linux compatibility library that implements everything Wine has plus the DirectX 9 APIs. So no, they aren't programs.
Early versions of Cedega had trouble running the setup.exe from the CD. You could avoid the problem by copying the CD contents to the hard drive and installing that way. If you installed from the downloadable setup for a trial account that worked fine of course.WOW run after a normal install on Linux, does it even install?
Current versions of Cedega have no installation problems.
