Gaming Thread, Recommend me a good PC game in Fun Stuff; I'm looking for something cerebral PC gaming-wise rather than a shot-em up. Any suggestions? Something with good puzzles / problems ...

Fallout 3 is a good engrossing game. Not just a shooter. Or something completely different, sword of the stars.

I used to play Earth 2150 & The Moon Project quite a lot many years ago - will have to dig out the media for that and re-install it....

Tell you what I'll do - I've got a load of games [ old ones ] that I don't play much these days, I'll PM you a small list.

I've bee playing Racedriver GRID on my lunch hour. You can get it for £4.99 off Amazon. Best racing game I've played for ages. Shame I've just got Modern Warfare 2. There go my afternoons too!

Braid is one of the best games I've ever played, Its not that long but verry good puzzle solving game. Took me about 4 or 5 day (at about 1&1/2 hours a day) to figure it all out but well worth getting and not to expencive. Also if you have not played Portal yet that is another must! again not long but rock solid puzzle solving.

Another vote for Portal here, fantastic game, really forces you to think around problems, rather than other games that have you shoot through them.

Portal Is brilliant and i do reccommend that, although you can finish the main story in about 1 1/4 hours (if you know where to go) but you wont make it last longer than 2 hours.

Braid is a good little game that can be quite hard in places (ive finished it, but now playing it again on my netbook i cant remember how to do bits of it).

Racedriver Grid is a great racing game, i got my copy off steam.

Fallout 3 is a good story, if you want something not futuristic Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion runs the same engine (made by the same people, came first).

I would recommend looking around the indie games on steam, some of those are excellent and dont cost much

Theme hospital the 2d old version not the newer 3d rubbish one. Great little game where you design the rooms and machines and solve the patients problems by hiring more doctors and cleaners and nurses etc..

I agree with the above post r.e Dragon Age: Origins. I pre-ordered it, very good game.

However for the puzzle element... I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the Myst saga. Five immersive puzzle games for you there, with a number of spin-off games to keep you occupied for hours.

Thanks, Matt, but I've done all those. Loved B&W.
