Just tried it and it does improve the frame rate slighly but not enough to make of for the effects it seems to disable such as dynamic lighting/etc. THe game looked noticeably worse with it turned off so I've turned it back on for now.
Cheers for the advice though,

26th January 2010, 11:24 AM #18 I must have piled about 100 hours into this on the PC, running on a dell xps one, not the best machine but it looks OK, i think i'm on minimum settings though...

26th January 2010, 12:18 PM #20 What's the release date on Mass Effect? I thought it was the end of the week but googling now suggests it might be today?! (360)

Direct2Drive are boasting a release date of today, whereas on Steam it's Friday. As for gamestore releases, I haven't looked.

Unfortunately ME2 not released in the EU until 29th Jan
. US release is today however, although I do hear it was leaked sometime last week.

26th January 2010, 12:24 PM #23 I spotted the leaked ver the other day, but tend to buy bioware games as they're awesome! 29th... bollocks!

26th January 2010, 12:25 PM #24 I never got used to RPG's on consoles, just didnt feel right. The baldurs gate days were the best, i still go back from time to time to go back through them.

26th January 2010, 12:27 PM #25 I wouldn't play dragon age on console, but for a shooter rpg like mass effect it's great fun!

Playing through Awakening now and it seems a lot less epic then Origins. The story and dialogue is top notch as with every Bioware game but the characters seem somewhat less... characterful. The fact you can unlearn all skills and talents at will and pick new ones is a nice feature but they lose their individuality.
It's also stupidly easy, Nightmare mode with a far from "ultimate" party and no problems so far over half way through it. On Nightmare mode i expect to have to do boss fights a couple of times, it's no Mass Effect 2.

29th March 2010, 02:23 PM #30 ok cool, i guess ill stick with my old skool dungeon crawling in nwn1, a server which i used to play on years ago has been reborn, been able to hook up with all my old buddies and once again epic crawls and boss fights are a nightly occourance
if anyone interested in playing on a mature server with a nice balance of RP and action, hunt the dragon for its treasure in a party of heroes style then look up Ashen realm reborn on the nwn1 bioware boards, im on pretty much every night... love it
