Benq HD Monitor 24" £115
BenQ G2411HD 24 TFT Monitor OPEN BOX - Misco.co.uk
I bought this HD monitor a couple of weeks ago for £130.
Absolute bargain and a cheap way to go HD!
Chose three day delivery and it arrived the next day!
Save myself quite a few bob on purchasing a HD TV; planning to use a USB freeview dongle for watching tv.
It has HDMI, DVI, VGA connections but no speakers (does have headphone socket though)
Picture quality is great with my PS3.
Haven't noticed a big difference with some of my games compared with my non HD monitor e.g. metal gear solid 4 and GTA 4 but for PES its like going from PS2 to PS3!

the only issue for me would be the 1 month warranty with open box stock

My bro got one a week or two ago. Be careful that you don't buy the analog one which has a slightly different product code. It just adds an "a" on the end (G2411HDA). It even mentions being HD in the descriptions on websites but only has a VGA analog connector. The HD bit refers to some HD sound connector. I only stopped my bro buying one because i checked some forum to see if it really was HD.
My bro ended up getting the HD one for about £134 and another analog one later for his GF slightly cheaper as she did not need any HD stuff.
Both models look exactly the same to my eyes.
More expensive but definitely better is the HannsG 28 inch monitor i bought for £300 a short while ago and is down to £264 on Misco and maybe cheaper elsewhere. Soooo big and great with PC games or console.

Can't say i've noticed a difference when i've seen a blueray movie either?
Maybe i am a bit blind!

Not really sure if there is a massive difference in connections when viewing standard non HD stuff to be honest. Like most things, you just want to be current and have the latest technology. I can definitely see a difference with HD content though.
I was even looking at 52 inch tv's recently thinking they were damn poor in quality at curries or comet and then i saw one hooked up properly with HD connections and displaying HD footie and i could see the difference between non HD and HD side by side. I am deffo gonna be getting me a 52 inch HD tv for films and sports soon!
I guess for a couple of pounds difference, why get the non HD monitor? Unless you are strapped for cash i guess or cheap like my brothers GF

I already have the HD monitor.
I guess my dvi question was geared more to watching non HD content using my pc whether there was a noticible difference between DVI and VGA i currently use a VGA Cable.
I think i have answered my own question as ill be getting a USB Freeview Dongle anyway which are meant to be HD Ready so i'll need a DVI cable eventually!

Works great with my PS3!
If you are planning to use it with a games console, that particular model doesnt have speakers and the only output is a headphone socket.

I purchased one of these back in November for £135 from Dabs. Absolutely brilliant screen. I got one for myself after buying one for use in the school. Xbox 360 looks great hitched up to it.

Due to the amount of space I have I'm probablt going to have to settle for a 19".
Got my eye on http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...&tid=w1942s-pf or Buy 19" Samsung SM943NW TFT LCD Widescreen Monitor*LS19MYNKBBAU from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2008, 2007 & 2006 for laptops, desktops and computer hardware or Buy Acer V193WBb 19 inch Widescreen WSXGA TFT LCD Monitor*ET.CV3WE.B03 from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2008, 2007 & 2006 for laptops, desktops and computer hardware but they all look much of a muchness. I like LG but in comparison to the Samsung it doesn't appear to be any good.
So, Samsung monitors okay? I've only ever really had an Acer or HannsG.
- 19 inch Widescreen Monitors
- Contrast Ratio - 1000:1
- Brightness - 300cd/m2
- Resolution - 1920 x 1200
- Response Time - 5ms
- Colour - Black
