Well with the summer fair coming up i've been asked for a game to be installed onto the main suite so we can get pupils to donate money. I downloaded TrackMania and both the Head of ICT and myself think it would be good.
Only problem i cant get the bloody thing to load on our pc's. PC's are good spec, Athlon 64 X2, 2GB ram but only onboard GeForce 6150 sharing 128MB.
When i try to load the game it comes up in a windowed box but doesn't go any further. Works fine on my pc in the office but every pc in the suite is the same. Have installed latest graphic drivers but this didn't change anything.
Anyone got any ideas?

23rd May 2008, 02:59 PM #2 How locked up is your C: drive? Might be related to a lack of permissions to update files (creating game profiles, or updating ini's, etc).
Also, some games don't run well in these kind of environments. Try running it as administrator, see if that works.

Do you have Ranger remote installed on the machines in question?
I could never get Trackmania to work on machines with it installed!
It was messing up Direct x in some way.

15th July 2008, 11:50 AM #6 Just a note but there is a new version of the free one out now [along with a retail one] called TrackMania Forever [and TrackMania United Forever for the paid one].
More polished... maybe the installer will be better for your machines with this one?
Cheers

16th July 2008, 09:51 AM #7 I did finally work out the issue, it didn't like the fact we had shared RAM gfx cards, although i'd set them to share 128mb it was only detecting 5mb and wouldn't run.
Didn't matter in the end we got our new pc's a few weeks early and it run brilliantly on those so was all good. Now just need to work out a way to use it for after school fun with a purpose.
