Hack it and stick Linux on it with a 500 GB HDD inside, or with XBMC on it wirelessly streaming your Video, photos and music

    i second the XBMC route.
i rarely use the 120gb drive in mine, but use it to stream stuff to my bedroom. definitely better than a media center pc.

    XBMC all the way

If you have an original copy of Splinter Cell (not a platinum disc) then you can mod the Xbox without opening it up and install XMBC that way.

You will need to search for the how-to's.

Of course you will need to open it up at some point to stick in a larger HDD.

Just had an idea... don't know if it's possible, but how about getting the Eee PC linux onto an xbox?! That would make for a pretty cool little mini PC.

you can extract the asuslauncher program (the gui with the tabs) the rest is IceWM, so any distro should be able to run it.

not sure if I can post this here. I am sure the mods will remove if unsuitable.

Do a search for xbins and you should find what you're looking for.

Ps for mods there's a lot more to do after this. This ain't a complete guide!

Err...I still play games with mine, despite my wife bringing home a new 360 for me.

Still plenty of Halo 2 online goodness to be had.

if I recall correctly you can still play your games with xbmc.
To do online play you download xlink kai and use that instead. The best part about this was you could also play nodded halo too.
