Final Fantasy 7 on Steam
Isn't the original bad PC port, apparently it's been reworked for newer systems. They also added achievements but sadly they are devalued by a character boost feature in case someone finds the game too hard.
Can't link here as Steam is filtered but I dare say it will be easy to find on the store screen!

I saw this earlier! Needless to say I'm slightly excited! Goodbye life (again)!
Edit: Character booster? Bah! Since when was 300gil too much to pay for a phoenix down? Smells of cheating to me! Plus it'll make very little difference when you get to trying to take down the Weapons!

Bah. This is unacceptable. Give us VIII!

I had said I wasn't going to buy any more games this month. Damn you Steam!
Purchased and downloaded, as soon as the work day's over I'll be having myself an FF7 night. Now all we need is IX and I'll be happy.

I loved VIII, but VII is the best

I never got into VII. It just felt.. Terrible. I couldn't see much of a storyline developing early on (but I forget how much of it I actually played, I just remember it didn't really 'grip' me too much). Combine that with how awesome I found VIII (and the Junction System, which is much better than Materia), plus all the over-enthusiastic OMG CLOUD/OMG SEPHIROTH fanbase just really puts me off trying it again. That, and money. I don't really want to spend cash on checking out something I previously didn't enjoy.
Still, I have a friend who will be overjoyed at this news xD He's probably downloading it already, come to think of it.

I love everything about this game, I'll definitely end up purchasing the Steam version but I'll wait for it to pop up in a sale - I've already completed the thing dozens of times over the years, a few more months ain't gonna kill me

I do believe you mean IX is the best

For me IX was second best. It was epic and awesome in so many ways, but it didn't have the impact that VII had (and still has) each time I play it.

Is that the one with multiple hour battles with Ultima weapon? I never did beat it

Ruby in Vii was a dog to beat, until I found a materia combo that allowed me to start the fight, go for my tea, and come back having hammered it

Does prefight setup time count?
If it does, Pennance in FFX wins. It has almost 255 in every stat. You need to be nearly maxed to even hit it. [YMMV due to luck]
