    XBOX Laser Burn

My copy of Black Ops 2 has stopped working and now the disk has a distinct ring through the surface of it which wasnt there before. I bit of googling tells me this is known as a "laser burn". There seems to be various ways to fix it (including toothpaste???) but has anyone on here actually had this happen to a disc and how did you fix it?

    Your help would be appreciated.

My local computer shop has a CD / DVD cleaner / restorer machine and for £5 they will fix scratched disks. Might be worth finding out if someone near you offers the same service?

I got some solution from a guy on ebay, cost 99p and 99p delivery, it's kinda like brasso, and polishes the scratch out the surface.
It's only plastic, so something like autosol or brasso should work as it's delicate enough not to permanently damage the material.

You can sometimes take it back to the place you purchased it from and they will exchange it for you, weather that has changed since the last time i had to do it i don't know!..

I have used T-Cut to repair Xbox games before! ;-) just a little bit on the disc rubbed all the way around lightly!...

You didn't move it from vertical to horizontal or vice versa with a disk in the tray did you?

That's not laser burn, the laser is no where near powerful enough to do any damage at all, that is a scratch which is a known issue with Xboxes when they are moved with a disk in the tray. PS3s have a habit of eating more than one disk if fed them, I think the record is five disks at once at one electronics store.

There is even a sticker on the xbox tray saying so when you buy it. People who think it has anything to do with the laser burning it are simply clueless of physics.

As above toothpaste is a micro abrasive so some on a micro fibre cloth and gentle rubbing should sort it, video stores - if you still have them - also offer a 'resurfacing' service most of the time which is the same thing.
