Unable to email a group in Exchange

Hi all

Having a slightly odd issue with Exchange server. We have an IP gateway device attached to our fire alarm, which allows us to manage/interrogate the system. It has the facility to send emails when events occur, which is really useful - the emails arrive immediately something happens, which makes getting to the source of a fire alarm much more efficient than having to charge across the site to the fire panel, then back across to wherever it tells us to go.

However, the IP gateway device only allows up to four email addresses. This would have been easy to work with - or so I thought! - by getting it to email an Exchange mail-enabled group. The trouble is, emails sent by the device to a group email address never arrive. Emails to specific people's addresses do, and the user I've created for the fire alarm to send from can send to the group from Outlook - just not from the IP gateway device!

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions, please? All gratefully received!

Don't know if it's possible, but have you tried making a regular email account for the system to send the message to (which seems to work), then have that account auto-forward to the group?

Not much of an authority on Exchange, but it has to be worth a shot, right?

Sure; the idea had crossed my mind but I thought it must be possible to get the device to send directly a group! I will investigate setting up the email --> individual --> group route. Thanks.

1. Your issue is probably that the DG has the authenticated users set on it, the gateway would be seen as anonymous and not authenticated. Uncheck this and test.
