Exchange - Internal forwarding to another mail server

Hi there,

I was thinking about going down the Live@Edu route but am also thinking about seeting up our own Exchange 2010 server instead.

If we go down this route I would like the setup to be that Exchange receives the mail, delivers it to an exchange mailbox if one exists for the recipient, if a mailox doesn't exist then have the mail forwarded to our RM Easymail server who will then deliver it or whatever.

I know this can be done but not too sure how so could nayone shed any light on this for me?

set the domain as in an internal relay domain (emc, exchange organisation, hub transports, accepted domain) and create the relevant send connectors, so * goes out via smtp and yourdomain.com goes to the other exchange server.

the above would work but if tyhe recipient doesnt exist at your Org then why forward to RM mail server? Still will get an NDR?

What's the objective here?

Migration. users will exist on the RM mailserver until they have been moved over to Exchange.

same org.

Then you shouldnt need to do what youre doing, internal relay.

Your MX records will point to either your RM server or your Exch server, which will query AD for the proxy addresses and delver email to recipients, if they exist or NDR if they dont. If not senders will receive the standard NDR.

Unless RM do 'funny' things?
