Exchange on Android
Don't know if I should post this question here, but I thought I would risk it!
Been using my nokia to connect to our Exchange email this is provided by our Internet provider at work. Now I know when you use the OWA you have the option to remotely wipe device - which doesn't do anything on my nokia apart from block access to the emails.
I've now moved on to an android device and Im presented with a nice warning that my device can be remotely administered including remotely wiping.
As I have no experience with Exchange Server etc was wondering if someone could tell me what options as an Exchange administrator you have? Is it a case of if my device was wiped it would simply remove exchange emails? Or is it as the warning message states on the phone that a lot of control is handed over?
Im not sure on the definite answer when it comes to Android, but I was curious myself when I first hooked up my iPhone years ago, so figured it would be a smart idea to see what happened - and it completely wiped the ENTIRE iPhone - apps, images, music, everything!
Urgh - Jesus, no more email on my phone for me then!
Was that you going on to the OWA and clicking remote wipe? Is this functionality only available to me as the account owner? or the exchange administrators?

I only took the chance as I am the administrator and it was my own device. I would assume an administrator who valued their continued employment wouldn't test on live users!
At least if you DO lose te device you know they can wipe it for you so all of your info isn't accessible?
Nah the whole exchange email is provided by our internet provider here. So I have no control over it what so ever.
I literally only have the option in the OWA to wipe remote device. Its my own private phone, if they have the ability to wipe my phone etc I would rather not give them the ability!
Thanks for that Sukh, question is though, are only account holders able to do that, or can the Exchange server administrators able to perform that too?

If its a simple case that if they chose to they could wipe the emails that's fine - but if they can do more I'd rather read my emails later!
1. Users can do this and so can exch admin. There was an issue with exch 201 SP1 where users couldnt do it but SP4 should address that.
