I've been tasked with changing our default email addresses from firstname.lastname@myschool.com to username@myschool.com
I have changed the Email address policies to give a user the additional SMTP address and set this as the main reply address. Internally the new addresses work correctly, but external mail isn't getting through to the new addresses. There are no failed delivery reports or anything of a useful nature :-(
Email is still flowing if it is sent to the old address - is there anything that I have missed or should have set up/restarted?

8th August 2012, 10:15 AM #2 Nope, unless you have a Sync whereby proxy addresses nned to be sync'ed with a gateway or 3rd party?
Check MT Logs and up the Connector logging to verbose and repro the issue.

It's very strange :-) however most things here are - 7 weeks in and lots of 'issues' are being discovered. I would have loved some paperwork!
Roll on the move to Office 365 (This change was one of my prerequisites to doing it - getting staff used to the new email addresses before migrating)

A restart of the exchange server has sorted it.

It seems that the emails just aren't being added to the database
