    Sharepoint 2010 - err what is this bit called

    On the left hand side of Sharepoint pages is a menu which shows all of the folders for a site. It has items Pictures, Libraries, Lists, Discussions and at the bottom Recycle Bin and All Site Content. Does this have an official name? Also, can you disable and enable it? (Not sure why the boss wants to do this, but there you go!)

    If you make a content editor and click inside and instead of writing text click the HTML button you can isnert this code which will remove the navigation bar from the left hand side.

    <style>
    BODY #s4-leftpanel {
    DISPLAY: none
    }
    .s4-ca {
    MARGIN-LEFT: 0px
    }</style><script language="javascript"></script>

    I've always called it the quick launch navigation menu. It can be disabled by Site Actions > Site Settings > Tree View and uncheck "Enable Quick Launch". Having done this, both "View all site content" and "Recycle bin" links are still there so the screen space isn't re-claimed. This is just one of the very many annoyances of SP. AlexPilot's advice will make it go away and you can get it back by deleting the CEWP with the code in.

    So you can half turn it off via the menu. SP is a crock! The coding method works well thanks but is damn cumbersome.
