PaperCuts internet control module is free and is popular in areas of the world where internet bandwidth is limited or expensive. I would look at one of the many alternative internet monitoring services available such as Squid (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is your internet particularly poor where you are in SA? A new ISP is comming to the SA market that may be able to offer you a better service at a better price.

We have Websense filtering, the installing engineer strongly recomended against using bandwidth usage policies as it usually causes much more hassle than it's worth.

Also, consider that INTERNET useage may not always be HTTP traffic, squid can't handle someone pulling Gigabytes via SCP or other protocols. It's actualy quite difficult to find a product that can do bandwith management for all protocols from a given user.

Hi, thanks for all the replies. We were using papercut but due to the internet control part reaching end of life we are starting to look for something new. We want to be able to basicly make students pay for their internet and print usage.(almost like in a kiost type of way way)
