The normal way of blocking something like P2P traffic is to do the following:
1. Set up a proxy server to server HTTP traffic
2. On your router, set up rules to only allow traffic from the proxy, blocking all other ports except those that are needed (such as email SMTP servers, or FTP etc...).
3. Either enter the proxy details into your clients so they use the proxy, or set it up as a transparent proxy and then use your DHCP server to set the proxy as your default gateway for the network.
Blocking torrents without setting up the above level of control would be pretty difficult, as they work across basically any port number.
