Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers Problem

    Hi All,

New around here, found the site after a fellow techy pointed me in this direction.

I have an problem with a backup on one of our servers.

We are using Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers to backup a 2008 Microsoft Small Business server to External USB Hard drives.

Is has worked flawlessly for months until we have started to get the following errors:

    Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe1f - The device cannot be found.
    Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-65055

Backup- E: V-79-57344-65055 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Server-name\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: No.

Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE1F): The device cannot be found.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

V-79-57344-65055 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\Server-name\Microsoft Information Store\Second Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: No.

Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE1F): The device cannot be found.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

I have looked the errors up but with no joy, a lot of people say to re-create the section list in backup exec but this doesn't help. Also the first storage group and the second are accessible in the selection list.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks for your time.

    Geoff

Creating a whole new backup job seemed to solve this. Why I do not know.
