Unable to find email address - Exchange 2007
I've a strange email address problem in Exchange 2007.
I have a problem that whenever I email a particular user I get a “Mail delivery failed” message straight back but from the user’s old Yahoo account.
I’ve checked the delivery forward options within Exchange 2007 and it’s blank (no forwarder set)
I’ve checked the user’s local Outlook rules and still no forwarding rule.
I’ve checked for a contact with this email address and found nothing.
I’ve done a check via the Exchange Management Shell and Get-Mailbox –Identity and found nothing.
I’ve searched Active Directory via a Custom Search and LDAP query (proxyaddresses=smtp:failingemailaddress@yahoo.com) and still found nothing!
I cannot think of anywhere else to look, anyone offer any advice?

This particular user you are sending an email to. Is that user internal?
Have you created a new profile for yourself and tried sending again?
Have you cleared the local cache which keeps the names of messages sent to recent recipients?

Hi sukh
Yes the user is internal.
Yes - I've tried a new profile and have the same result - the issue is not just me but for anyone who sends this person an email.
Yes - I've cleared down the local cache etc.

24th February 2011, 09:31 AM #4 Hi,
Is this issue when you only send an emai or for all users who send an email to this user?
Can you check the emaill addresses tab on this user object on AD and check if the are any other email addresses?
Can you check see there are no transport rules set under the Exchange Organisation>Hub Transport?
Have you checked messaging logs to check the route the message takes?
Any reason why you are not on the latest SP3 for Exchange 2007?
Regards
Sukh

Hi Sukh
Many thanks for your post - I found it under Exchange Organisation>Hub Transport just as you posted (I thought I had already checked there but I was obviously mistaken)
Thanks again!
