How do you: Host PAC files

Now I can create the PAC file, even get it to use a proxy or not based on your IP address, but I have no idea where to host it.

If it's hosted on a server in school, surely that means that when staff go home they can't access it. If I host on say our public facing website it would be available for anyone to find?

If it's on our hosted website, and staff go home how can they access the PAC on the website if by default IE tries to connect to a proxy server that isn't there, without the PAC file to tell it no to bother?

Or should I copy it onto each PC and run it locally?

I host mine on an internal web server.

That's how it is meant to work. The browser will connect to the Internet directly when it can't find or read the proxy.pac file.
