    Papercut - Delete jobs in print queue

    We have papercut setup but only to monitor printing activity. I was wondering if there is a way to delete jobs after say 30 mins without using the user/manager release feature.

    This would be handy in scenarios where users print a document say 10 mins to go at the end of a lesson but either the printer has run out of paper or there is an error with the printer. The only thing i can see regarding this is the user/manager print release which isn't what i'm after.

    I maybe looking in the wrong place but i don't think i've ever seen this feature and ive had it since version 8, now on version 14.

    The only place I've seen is under Options - General - Hold/Release queues.. but this is only valid if you have the release station, as you say.

    I thought that might be the case. I wonder if a script might be able to sort this issue out, trouble is, i don't have any scripting knowledge.

    Me either! At that point though, the job has passed through Papercut and is now in the printers queue isn't it? Therefore, any scripting would be at the print queues, not Papercut?

    There is a hardware verification check aswell to see if the printer actually printed anything.

    Whether this helps in your case im not sure.

    Hi,

    It's possible to delete future print jobs with a Papercut script on the print queue when a print job is already present in print queue and in error state.

    I could give you this script if you are interested.

    Here he is:

    If PaperCut Client is running on the computer, it's possible to notify users when jobs are deleted.

    In this case, we need to add this line after "actions.job.cancel();":
    actions.client.sendMessage("Your print job was deleted because the printer is in error state");

    --------------------------------------

    /*

    * Delete jobs on error without confirmation
    */
    function printJobHook(inputs, actions) {

    /*
    * If Print queue is in error:
    */
    if (inputs.printer.isStatusError) {

    /*
    * Delete the print Jobs
    */
    actions.job.cancel();
    }
    }
