A couple of PaperCut questions
I've installed the 40 day trial and there are a couple of things i'm stumped on and havent been able to find help elsewhere.
1) I've got a user that prints aren't being logged. She is on a laptop thats not on the domain, but to use the printers they have to authenticate to the network (usually by clicking Staff Common and it asks for their domain username and password) and she is in the users group on PaperCut.
2) It seems to pick randomly which machine they have printed from. This happened with the free software but let it slide as its free and wasn't a biggie. Issue seems to still exist. I'm getting people apparently printing on a computer that they wouldn't be anywhere near. One member of staff seems to be printing from my old laptop that no longer exists nor exists on AD...
So i'm a bit stumped at the moment...

For No.1 I take it the client is installed on her machine?

i haven't installed the client on any machines at the moment whilst testing. Do non-domain machines definately need it to function correctly then?

The client needs to be run on all machines. On the domain it can be run from a share at logon, and for our non-domain clients we tend to install it locally.

I will do it on domain machines when i'm happy with the setup and stuff. Odd as my domain machines are picking up people printing fine without it. Will go install client on her laptop now.

So, installed client on the laptop..printed to pages. Nothing registers, counter doesnt drop.

I cannot replicate this because users cannot print unless the machine is on the domain the 2nd point you mention sounds like a DNS issue?!

We map ours to OUs in AD. I dont think I have ever installed a client on computers though.

You don't need the client on all machines, I remember when I was a student, If i printed to the printers (On my own laptop and because i was authed in as my student username) - my student papercut balance would go down.

Does the user definitely have an account within Papercut?

yep, definately has an account. I've selected the Staff OU and she's in there....
