Migrate SCCM install from 2008R2 to 2012R2?

What's the best/supported way of doing this?

I want to decommision my 2008R2 server and upgrade to the newer OS to support the UEFI functionality of 2012R2 in preperation for potentially making use of windows 8.1

EDIT: would this work: Install new OS, install SCCM SP1 (as per my current solution) with a blank database. Do a full site backup on my current server and then recover that backup on to the 2012R2/sccmsp1 server before then upgrading to sccm2012r2?

I tried that going from 2008R2 to a 2012 server without luck, and according to many sources, MS included it isn't possible. I ended up finding out you can do a semi manual migration as you can export packages, collections etc - you can certainly run a backup in SCCM and import it to get your boundaries, collections and what-not.
