    Spiceworks / Office365 / Proxy

Has anyone managed to setup email in Spiceworks to connect to Office 365 exchange from behind a proxy? If you have, please tell me how!

    Thanks.

All I'm trying to do this to setup Spiceworks to send/receive email using an Office 365 account. I understand I can't do this using SMTP/IMAP from behind a County proxy as this is not supported by Spiceworks. However, I [think] I should be able to set up Spiceworks using the "Exchange" option - but it isn't working.

I've tried variations of "https://servername/exchange" (for example - https://podxxxxx.outlook.com) but it's just not happening.

    Any idea's??

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I have just moved to Office 365 and I am having trouble setting up the relay.

I have added the role as outlined in the link posted by @sukh, I think I have all the settings correct. However when I drop a test message into the Pickup folder it gets moved into the queue folder and then stays there. Looking at Event Viewer I get:

"Message delivery to the host '213.199.154.23' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'XXXXXXX.XXXX.sch.uk' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt."

I am stumped and don’t know what I have done wrong or how to get around it.

What are you using for the smart host? What are your ports set to?

By smart host do you mean the relay server? If so it is just one of our DCs. The ports are set to 587 as per the instructions.

On the relay server you should have an option to set a smart host. What's that set to?

FYI I am on Server 2008 R2, I have found the Smart Host setting under advanced delivery but it is empty.

Still not going through but I have noticed that the FQDN listed above the Smart Host is our internal server name. Would this be an issue? I have no errors at all in the event log now.

The FQDN is correct there. Have you got a user setup in outbound security with send as rights?

Yes, I have ict@<my domain>.sch.uk with the correct password (basic authentication). It is a full mailbox (not shared) with a full A2 license associated with it.

As long as TLS is ticked and you have restarted the relay, you should be working.
