Smile EduSweep Update: Beta 6 Available

Hi everyone,

After 3 weeks of hacking away, Beta 6 is ready to go. The problems with the proxy authentication and occasional skipped folders should both be fixed and I've patched some smaller problems as well. It's not just fixes though - the log files are now HTML formatted and give you detailed information on errors, the online update gives you an on screen log and checks the definitions at startup, the results viewer is a lot more responsive and the UI has had a nice tidy-up.

There's a new set of definitions online as well this morning so you can test out the online update feature. Let me know how it all works out for you!

For a list of what's changed, check here.

To install the update over the top of beta 5, clear your logs folder, then extract the zip file.

Grab the download now

love the app.. but would be handier in schools if it kept the file structure that the file moved was from. incase users actually require the file.

You mean that if you quarantine a file, say, C:\folder\virus.exe it will become quarantine\C\folder\virus.exe? That's certainly doable, I'll look into it.

yea thats exactly what i ment.. just with having loads of students if one comes saying it was called "mywork" im sure there would be several others named that aswell.

so far the app works great and would great if you were able to implement at later date.

Just found this today while I was doing some forum browsing since its exam week for the students. Worked superbly I'm really pleased. Very fast and first class presentation.

I voted on your new feature list for detection of files that have been renamed as I'd love to be able to permanently get rid of all the mousebreaker games no matter what they have been renamed.

Loving this,

Would be nice to be able to do a custom search on the fly, e.g. choose which files you want to search for as a one off scan, we are having a problem with Flash games so it would be useful.

I spotted a minor oversight. You include a copy of the GPL v2 with the zip file. However the about page in the program claims the software is licensed under GPL v3 terms?

Right you are, Geoff. I've been experimenting with different licenses, the final app will be either the GPL 2 or BSD license. I'll update both places when I've made a choice.
