Shutdownertron, a group-policy controlled, automated, user-abortable, decentralised shutdown mechanism.
I have been working on this for most of the year and it's finally in a fit state to have some kind of public offering. Documentation is to follow, so if you're feeling brave and want to give it a go, I would value your feedback. It is at http://www.powdarrmonkey.net/shutdownertron/
If you're CC3, use Bizzell's system. If you're anything else, Shutdownertron is for you. (And of course it will still work with CC3, with a little effort.)
Contents:
- an MSI, for distribution by your preferred method
- two transforms, to control installation of the local override tool (by default, installed on demand)
- a group policy template that you can install in the normal way
I'm writing documentation this weekend hopefully, but in the meantime do please have a go and tell me how you get on.
(mods: can I have a forum for this please? ta)

26th September 2008, 04:35 PM #2 I have been using this for some time now. Its a very good product nice and simple and easy to use.
Did you manage to get it to reboot the computers to a schedule?

26th September 2008, 10:51 PM #3 Yes, this version has a mode option that defaults to shutdown but can be reboot.
Edit: Zak, if you're still using the dev version, you should probably upgrade to the new policy template even if you don't deploy the new agent - there was a small bug in the last one, don't know if it's the one you were testing.

30th September 2008, 06:24 PM #6 @bizzel: I'd like to make it more CC3-friendly, but I have no idea how CC3 works, and as you've done the hard work for it already perhaps we should join forces.
