    Annoying Virgin Media Adverts

The Virgin Media adverts which have appeared on the site this morning seem to be very intrusive and annoying - every time the mouse goes near the banner a 1/4 screen video pops up and obscures posts, and in some instances, an ad block is appearing over the posts themselves before being expanded so it's impossible to read some posts.

I'm on Firefox and having the issue, and so is my colleague.

The post covering issue is seen on the first post of this thread: Check out my little bro...

I don't have a problem with the adverts (have to make revenue somehow) but the layout in Chrome is a bit of an issue. Square advert right over the middle of the first post in a thread!

    Hi
I had not seen this problem with chrome and my firefox and ie8 dont have the issue. Will have a look at fixing it as it appears I chrome only issue.
As for the pop out I thought it was quite funny but it doesnt really take over my screen tbh when it pops out (1280x1024) but I will test it in others.

    Cheers

EDIT: Firefox just had the issue, hmm but not always...

The ad appeared over the first thread, I closed it, it did it again, and then after I closed it for the second time it resized into that gap at the top.
    Did it on firefox too

I get the same thing using Firefox (ad over the right hand half of the 1st post).

I don't mind ads on here usually but these are a bit intrusive (opening up if you go anywhere near them with the mouse!). Plus we don't get Virgin Cable down here in sunny Cornwall (grumblegrumblebtgrumblegrumble).

I will give the ad company a email and ask for the details of the campaign. It for me, so far has not autoexpanded unless I mouse over.
In in interm I will move the right side box a post down for now to help with the issue.

If you get really desperate then AdBlock Plus in FF will remove them:

    http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/*

Only if you get desperate though........as this upsets quite a few......
