It seems a to only be a problem in the mornings - any reason for this?

No it does happen at other times. I am just usually quick at restarting it
It does happen mostly in the morning but I have not found why.

I dont know if this is related but i get this error on main page
    PHP Code:
Noticeunserialize() [function.unserialize]: Error at offset 0 of 66 bytes in /home/default/live.edugeek.co.uk/user/htdocs/plugins/system/remember.php on line 68
Also reading the other messages with the problem I have found an issue with backups (need to restart apache after backup) only a suggestion. But i have not got a clue what has caused the above error

New frontpage is out so that should cure the issue after I pull joomla fully tonight.
Hopefully this bug will be dead now

For more info on the frontpage see here
