I've installed this component so as to give a good overall editor to article writers however the spell checker doesn't work? In TinyMCAE I've installed the spell checker plugin and configured it this one will find mis spelled words underline them and give suggestions but the JCE one when clicked won't find anything mis spelled and I've made them glaringly obvious?

I am using JCE too and didn't know that it had a spell checker. It's not working for me either. I did a quick Google search and see that the CURL extension must be set up to run this.

There are two things to be done. First, edit php.ini, uncommenting this line:
;extension=php_curl.dll
Second, download and extract the binary package for your version of php. Locate the file named php_curl.dll and copy it to \usr\local\php\extensions
Then, restart services.
I did this for the server on which I have set up Moodle, but not my Joomla server yet. I haven't much Apache/MySQL/PHP knowledge, so I hope that this works.

Any more info on this?
I have Curl enabled and configured. Any other ideas why JCE fails spell check? I have tried every spell check option from the JCE control panel. Nothing works, including the JCE forum...;(
