Yep it only seems to happen in IE6, Im on IE8. I've tested IE8 with compatability modes on and off looks fine. But IE6 is not playing ball.

My first thoughts exactly, so I tried on a different range of monitors and resolutions etc. but no joy, All have IE6.

30th January 2009, 03:45 PM #6 then its undoubtly the monster that is IE-6 thats playing up, does the template have a IE-6 specific template, if so think about putting a workaround in that.

30th January 2009, 04:15 PM #8 There are 2 css files for specific IE6 "settings" You might need to add something in those based on the changes you have made the the standard css files.

30th January 2009, 04:19 PM #9 The correction i'd make would be finding out what container that menus in and then using position absolute, position right 50%, then add how much you need to (just less than half of the width on the main container).
This should give you approprate positioning in IE6 with compatibility for all resolutions and aspects.
But don't make the changes elsewhere and also you will have to position the height.....

30th January 2009, 07:52 PM #11 Thanks for posting this as I was wondering the same thing. I did ask in another thread, I think it was beeswax's, but didn't get anywhere really. I tried one or two things but to no avail.

30th January 2009, 09:48 PM #12 btw i think you use margin-left/right or padding-left/right to set how much to off-center it by.

There are a great many sites with info on how IE (generally, but more in 6 and earlier) screws up valid css with non-standard / buggy renderings. My favourites are the IE6 Three Pixel Gap issue, and the way that it can't work out that x% + (100-x)% == 100% in some cases so makes one element drop below its neighbour (which may be what you're running into). Try making the block with the menu in it which has dropped down just a few pixels / percents smaller. Good luck.
