They aren't the most supportive provider in the world but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.
The beta test of the new edugeek 1.5 package was tried out on Streamline.net. It's still there if you want to look, PM me....
Before that I had a basic install of 1.5 there and migrated an existing 1.x site into it with no problems. I don't use streamline for actual hosting any more, but still have a site with them for testing...
I've had a Joomla 1.5.9 site running on streamline.net for a friends business since just before Xmas. No problems so far. It's a small local driving school so its top hits per day are around only around 50 so I can't vouch for load stability really but I've had no other problems. My only gripe was just the awkwardness of having like servername529-db-local-etc-joomladatabase.sql as sql host but its one of the downsides of shared hosting.
Sorry to drag up an old thread.
I have a joomla site running on streamline.net everthing works perfectly until I try to enable search engine friendly urls.
Has anybody managed to get this working in a streamline hosted Joomla 1.5 site.
Streamline/Fasthosts used to restrict what you could do with .htaccess.
Is there anything in your domains error log?
Thanks for the reply Carl.
I have now after much stressing finally got it going... I have had to comment out Options +FollowSymLinks in the .htaccess file, and add the site URL to the config.php file "var $live_site"
here is my site if anybody wants a look, It is not a schools web site but one I have created for my youth footbal club
Gorleston Rangers FC
It is far from finished yet as still have loads of content to add.
Search engine friendly URLs are a little problem when it comes to joomla sites running on streamline.net. A friend of mine told me about having this problem and I have to ask him again if he figured out how to change the URLs. If not, I'll point him to the forum, maybe he can use Jon's advice. I am running my site on a shared hosting plan at the moment and I am quite happy with it, but I'll use Streamline if I decide to build a joomla site.
I tried WordPress on streamline net once (same setup as Joomla! with PHP/MySql) - had quite a few (but intermittant) problems (almost like the database wasn't being connected to all the time).
Quickly moved to UKWSD.
