What's the major difference between this version compared to the original 1.5.3 version that has been upgraded to Joomla 1.5.9?
Besides the theme templates and modules?

This version is pure Joomla 1.5 and contains no legacy packages from Joolma 1.0.
So, if your buliding a new site - use the new package.
If you've got the old one - just keep it up to date security wise

Simon
PS it has slightly reduced functionality as Sysman has not burdened it with add-ons - its up to you which ones you want/need. Main missing extension that you might want to install or find a replacement for is Docman which handles pdfs/word/publisher files.

So if you didn't want DocMan (and i think the original RD_RSS module) or you replaced them with alternative 1.5.x Native Modules it would effectively be the same as the new package albeit different templates?
I have already did most of the configuations for the website. What I'm really interested in is the templates. Is there a download of just the templates, along with the .psd files?
I have seen sites like: The Commonweal School and Converse County School District #1 using a different version of Edu Geek Joomla than the demo site what version are they using and could I get a copy? I like both and would like to present both of them to the district if I get hired.

AFAIK they were the original egJP 1.0 templates, that were then converted by AloneBFG to work with Joomla 1.5.
They could even be original 1.0.x sites

In the case of the CCSD#1 site, you are correct, Simon. This is the original template that was converted to 1.5. I have since moved it out of Legacy Mode - now running on 1.5.9 native.
I am reading about 1.6 and getting excited about the features. I am hopeful that migration won't be too difficult.

I've just downloaded this to have a look and see what it's all about, however, when I work through the installer, I get an error message when selecting the "Install Sample Data" button (as per the instructions ... Joomla! • View topic - FAQ - How to set up/install Joomla on Win XP for local testing
The message reads ...
[WARNING] file_get_contents(../sql\mysql\sample_data.sql) [ <a href='function.file-get-contents'>function.file-get-contents</a>]:failed to open stream: No such file or directory error in line 184 of file C;\wamp\www\joomla\installation\installer\helper.p hp
Any ideas where I may have gone wrong?

This is covered in the readme file included with the package.

Ooops, haha, so it is

So this version is using the 1.5.9 core joomla?
Have you made any hacks to the core files??

No hacks to the core files
