Is there any way of allowing multiple users to share email addresses???

    According to the Joomla forums

You can't have a blank email mapping - J! Requires an email address. Also, the email address can't be the same as someone elses.

But surely they'd be accounts accessible by more than one person, but those people would have their own addresses? Such as our school email address being separate from the people who check it.

We have users in departments that share one emaill account. They do not have access to a personnal email account. Is there any way of removing the double email checking??

No. The system relies on the email address being unique.

So basically we cant use this software then... All im asking is for a code edit just for us so it doesn't check for unique email on ldap registration.

If somone tells me what to change and where i'll do it.

Excuse me if this sounds daft but why can't you create additional email accounts and have them forward any mail to the shared email account?

Why should I setup extra mail accounts....

im not talking about an exta 5 - 10 mailboxes

it would be more like 150 -200 = more money

+ the extra time it will take setting up these mail accounts.

Im sorry but adding an extra 200 mailboxes to our exchange server which is already running on the high end of its max capacity is a real no go.

the extra 200 accounts will cost far too much and be a total nightmare to manage.

The amount of staff turnover is quite high so to keep having to setup forwards every five minuites is unreasonable.

If your an IT Tech you would understand this.

We have had 21 staff members leave in the last year, and have hired roughly 25. Adding email addresses is just part of our job, regardless of whether it is time consuming or not.

So, unless you're willing to work with the requirements of joomla, I don't think it's going to work for you.
