Default edit content - locked out?

Hello! I hope you can help me with what I hope is a simple error to fix! I've been trying to edit the content of different sections of the site, such as 'welcome' on the front page. I somehow seem to have 'checked out' these areas, they now have a padlock displayed beside them. I also can't seem to edit the content of any section, when I press save nothing happens at all.

Any ideas?
Thank you!

Thank you! That solved the padlocked problem, but for some reason it still won't save when I enter content and press save. Nothing happens at all, it just stays on the same page without updating. Any ideas? Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
