    Is EduNotifier useful?

I was wondering if perople found EduNotifier useful... hence the poll.

My intention, as I get time is to create a project that pops up a window at logon to display the following:
    • Important announcements - e.g. X, Y or Z is knackered but we are fixing it
    • School Announcements (pulled from the Joomla RSS feed)
    • Disk quota info - pie chart?
    • Print quote info - PyKota

I hadn't even noticed it was there but it felt eerily like you were reading my mind because I've been looking for something like this to keep staff updated..

I'll have to take a look at what it does and if it'll show for specific groups but sounds good from what little I've read so far.
EDIT: Ah... at present it's not quite what I'm after but a good start..

Perhaps time for a wishlist thread

I just went into task manager to end the process (as stated in the readme) and it said it was using 13meg of memory.

13meg for a little thing that sits in the corner? Seems a bit excessive to me!

During testing, the app seemed to use random amounts of memory... ranging from 1MB upwards - it was usually quite low though. I'm guessing it's something to do with loading the .NET Framework.

This is just a stop-gap though and I am working on v2 at the moment - this already does more and uses the same amount of RAM (hence my idea about the .NET Framework having a large footprint).

Sounds good... like the look of it already! ANy chance you can have it read in announcements from a Sharepoint List for those of us using that as our platform?

Had a quick play with it. Looks good. Here's my wishlist of features:

    • Changeable system tray icon
    • "Push" notification i.e. forcing a message to display whenever we want
    • Prioritized messages - e.g. "High" in red, "Medium" in amber, "Low" in blue and with "Critical" messages that will display in a larger window

Don't want a lot do you?!?!

Firstly... what's wrong with my icon? I'll have you know I spent a whole 30 seconds making that!

Once I have the basics in v2, I will open up the source... this is partly a learning curve for me but I reckon it won't take too long. Many of the current constraints are due to the use of the pop-up balloon - v2 uses a 'proper' window which will help a lot.
