Total opposite here - I'm not a fan of the software (why it can't be redesigned to run on IIS I don't know!) however whenever we have any issues we call them up and 20mins later someone is on fixing it (and they do that bit well).
Not so long ago we migrated Oliver from one server to another (did it ourselves from their manual) and they were more than happy to finish the job when it wasn't running right.
Are you running WINS for Oliver to work?
We had Oliver 3 and then 4 running on our school servers. It had some problems and then Softlink offered out a free upgrade to version 5 for all version 4 users. The server it was on had a faulty motherboard with an expired warranty so as soon as they offered hosted services I persuaded our school to subscribe. Never looked back :-D
+1
We had loads of problems with Oliver when we ran it internally but since moving to the hosted version it seems to be working a lot better now. I suspect there might be better library solutions out there but if you don't want to move to another system the hosted solution is probably your best bet.
yes, we also found that it's crap and the support is crap.
We've not tried the hosted service, and it's likely their techs have it nailed at their end. I'm not sure how scalable their back-end is so am sceptical
about moving. Am looking at Koha which looks quite promising.
