GOLA upgrade MSI issues
Has anyone done the latest upgrade for their Promissor GOLA clients yet?
When everyone used to moan at it ours was working fine on upgrades... we just extracted the MSI then installed via SCCM using msiexec with the /qb switch.
The last two versions have been a real pain though, looks like something has changed on the MSI and it now complains that a previous version is installed and we have to remove it to upgrade :hand:
It works fine doing the manual upgrade method but that's a nuisance to go around and do 300 PCs when it used to work perfectly from SCCM :mad:
Would be interested to see if anyone else gets the same issue on their clients...
We've always had issues with Promissor. I for one, hate it.
An upgrade, in their book, is a complete reinstall including removing reg keys which the unistaller doesn't touch, and then adding Everyone permissions to the reinstalled reg keys and rebooting a few times and moving the old stuff in the DATAPATH elsewhere, then making sure the new DATAPATH stuff is there, ringing their tech support to reset authentication keys (usually takes ~15mins) then manually upgrading every single client in a room.
Had an email today saying City & Guilds are moving to a new testing platform in the next few months... looks like they've had enough of it as well!
