ICT Curriculium Software
I'm a Network Manager in a Primary School, I've finished getting all the network, computers etc..running smoothly after some hard work!
I've now been asked to look at some software packages for embedding our ICT, as our current ICT Curriculum is poor.
I've looked at Softease Studio CT & the Smart Learning packages, all seem to be good in their own way.
What do people think of these packages?, both from a technical point of view but also a Teachers.
Are there other packages that you'll feel are better or worth a look?
We really need a simple package that the teachers can follow & obviously covers the QCA Scheme Of Work. Just having a very quick look the Smart Learning Package seems to be more of a complete package with a Scheme being embedded into the software?
We are in the Birmingham area so if anyone is using either packages or a better package, I would be interested in visiting to have a look.
personally i would go for textease, altough it is slow, and clunky, it is an install once- and forget, whereas smart will be suggesting updates, and nagging you.
plus smart's support is not very good in my opinion, and have poor regard for users too.
We use Smart Learning, had a few bugs and unsolvable sections, works pretty well, databases tends to crash if you move your kids around classes alot, had to restart the database form scratch twice now loosing all previous data!
In my opinionm Smart Learnings Tech support is okish, but have been promising me a patch to fix the problems for 4 years now! and still waiting!!!!!
The 2simple range of software is fab! We have most of the software and use it through the school!
What type of content are you trying to embed into the ICT courses, the more we know, the better we can do at recommending applications.
I look after five primary schools, which all run 2simple software. Breeze to install and maintain.
steer clear of smartICT
it just really sux. We keep getting database errors and have to reset the dam thing. If 31 clients connect to the database it falls over, some of the material is really bad.
Teachers here generally hate it. Looking at getting the 2simple software soon
