The Smartboard 9.5 is a MSI installer file, it has just been packed in an exe and, unlike with 9.1, Smart haven't bothered releasing a easier admin install. So:Quote:

Go to c:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations. In there you will find SMTBrdSoftware95, complete with MSI, which you can then make a custom mst for it (I use Wise Install Tailor - free - to make a with and without smart tools version for computers with or without smartboards attached) or deploy straight through AD.
Anyone know how to make a mst that will disable auto update?
I'd have thought that you should be able to a registry import to do this - in what ever way suits you i.e. batch/vb scrpt, GP, etc..Quote:

Just been talking to an AV guy who has had the auto update/proxy firewall problem.
Apparently the free download has .dll's stripped out of it. He got Smart to send him a CD with 9.5 on and now it works fine.
Can't remebered who asked but the .msi download works fine with serial connections here.
Peresonally I'm waiting for Smart to hopefully release a new version and MSI soon.
I personally don't want an auto update version that updates to a new version that changes the file format which stuffs you if you go to a non -updated machine :-(Quote:

Call me Thomas but if this guy has a 9.5 CD then it won't/can't update because there is nothing to update to :-)Quote:

And Mr SMART didn't offer me anything like that.
So your AV guys comments smell like b^&&$%£t to me :)

I think it was something to do with a check it carries out when the software loads. He was having problems with the software not loading properly as the check was failing.
Haven't tried 9.5 myself yet. That's just what he told me.
I suppose it might be updating and downloading new templates?
You can still get v9.1.4 if you need it.

Having serious problems on some flash websites with 9.5.
To run some gallery content you need flash 8, and it's this combination that seems to be causing problems.
Everything is fine if flash 7 is used, or flash 8 is installed but using SMART 9.1
Seen it affect Win98 and XP.

The flash issues might not be smartboards fault. See this thread:

I've rolled out 9.5 on a couple of sites now (using the MSI). The modification posted on the WiKi to disable AutoUpdate appears to work unchanged. The only problem I've had is getting the gallery content (seperate download) to deploy using the supplied MSI.
Never used Smartboards because they seem to be the exact opposite!
have always used promethean interactive boards and in four years have only had to change one board throughout the whole school and that was becuase the board had a black mark on it nothing technical. We are in the process of ordering another 18 at £1995 fully fittted, audio amp and speakers plus software. 2000 ansi lumens projector with 4 years warranty on projector and bulb. So you pays ur money and you takes your choice. Sorry this does not help your situation but just for future reference.
