The old school were i worked used to use Eclipse2 for their Library. My current school wants purchase new software for the Library and i have recommended Eclipse.
Now after contacting them they told me about Eclispe.net. This intergrates with the VLE we use and so i think it would be a good idea for this especially as our LEA are having a big push on Literacy at the moment.
I was wondering if anyone is using the web parts for this yet and how good they are?
We're also looking at Eclipse.net in April (to replace autolib) so I'm intereted to hear how anyone else has got on with it.
We installed it at the end of the summer holiday and had a fair few problems that we have downgraded to Eclipse2 rather than .net. We are holding off until it has had a bit more work on it. Could be beter now though, but we are standing off still.
Yep, we run Eclipse2 here and I've installed Eclipse.net and the librarian and I have had a play with it... result was we're staying with Eclipse2 until Eclipse.net is more mature and has had some of its initial troubles sorted out (eg very slow page loading times)...
We've been using eclipse.net since last summer and we've had no end of problems with it. Speed hasn't really been that much of a problem (although I would only put it on a server that doesn't do too much else and has a reasonable spec) but its been a pretty buggy ride. The latest release appears to have fixed a lot of our problems but personally i'd recommend you wait for it to go through another couple of service releases before you consider taking a look at it.
I agree, I would wait for a bit before going for .net
It was so bad at one stage our librarian was threatening suicide - we had slowness issues, data issues, all sorts.

We’ve had their senior developers in on a couple of occasions, but we're not happy yet.
eeh! and we were thinking of buying it, maybe we will hang on a bit longer
it's in our school - our NM and librarian are not happy with it yet, but we're sticking with it and ironing out one thing at a time with Eclipse. too many bugs, and we think it was released way too early. Still waiting for advice on how to link it in with our vle too..
As I've said in another thread.... IMHO the product was realeased before it was completed - it still isn't complete. As such we have had all sorts of problems - it is better than Heritage though!!!
MLS have been very good and their support is very good. They are also very receptive to suggestions.
My two main annoyances are the size of the database - we're talking gigabytes!!! - and the fact that the web parts are over £200 in addition to the amount of money that we have already thrown at MLS.
We've been running Eclipse.Net for yearly a year now, replacing AutoLib.
It's buggy, the reports are very poor, it's taken a while to get automated reminders working etc but overall it's better to have the buggy Eclipse.Net than Autolib.
Sometimes MicroLibrarian's support is very good; sometimes it's woeful.
We've had it here now for about a year and as a number of people have already said it's buggy and slow at times and the reporting is poor.
I totally agree that it was released far to early and unfortunately we are still experiencing problems due to this.
However, the support is very good and when our librarian phones up for help they are very helpful and are able to talk her through different procedures in terms she can understand instead of having to come and get one of us techies!
