    Question Photoshop CS3

    Hello all!

I was recommended to try edugeek to sort out general issues by my Network Manager, having only just joined the education industry I knew not of it's existance before hand, but it does have a wealth of knowledge!

I am encountering an issue with photoshop. If you have a networked printer set as your default printer then photoshop will stall and crash. However if you do not, it will load up fine. After talking to no less than three representatives from HP (HP Color LaserJet CP3505n) and they cannot think of anything in the line of a patch. We at MCS are looking to upgrade to CS5 in the summer, however, we would love to have a temporary work around solution. We do not encounter this with our RICOHs.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so, can anyone lend a helping hand?
    Many Thanks!

    Calum.

is it all network printers or just the HP CP3505n? Have you tried the Universal driver?

We have CS3 and multiple types of HP printers and no problem. What OS are you running? XP/7?

Sorry, there wasn't enough information behind this.
I have tried the U driver as well as as many working patches that HP can provide. It is all networked printers. however Ricoh sent me a fix, HP cannot provide the same. We use iPrint and they cannot seem to find anything their end. We currently run Windows XP SP3.

does it do the same if you setup the printer using a local IP port rather then a share from the server? Does it do the same if connected via usb?

have you updated CS3? We had this working fine when on XP without special drivers/patches

It will work fine when connected via a usb, but thats because it doesn't show as a networked printer. I am unsure about setting up using a local IP port, will this involve removing it from our ipp? there are classes in and out of there constantly. We need to have this networked capability as other teachers of the media classroom print from around the school. What would you reccommend?

Are you using the Bonjour Service? Does you domain end in .internal? Try stopping the Bonjour service this may resolve (from a google )

The other possibility is set a PDF printer as the default and then make them choose the Printer before printing.

That is a viable work around, but certain members of staff have complained about this, strange arguments that we could hope to deal without. We use Novels iprint.

We have disregarded this as users understand it's slow. As it is non existent with CS5/5.5 we are going for the CS6 upgrade. I thank you for helping me troubleshoot either way.
