Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Google Chrome MSI without it being laced with the Google Updater software?
The standard 'Standalone' MSI isn't what I'm after. I'm trying to push it out with GPO.
My problem is that the Google update component can't connect to the Internet, so fails. This takes 7 hours before Chrome is installed.
Using the ADM files for Google update doesn't do the trick either :-(
Thanks in advance
Ben

7th February 2012, 11:56 PM #5 Thanks @DaveP - There is a switch to use -NOGOOGLEUPDATES=1
This can be applied using the following MST file: chrome_transform.mst

Is anyone having issues with Chrome not bringing down GP settings? I've installed the adm template on a server 2003 machine, deployed Chrome to a test client and the only GP setting it seems to pick up is the homepage.
Things like blacklisting all extensions by just putting a '*' in the GP blacklist don't seem to take effect. I can still add the eBay extension for example, from a student account on the test client.
I take it other people have successfully deployed Chrome in a school environment?

6th March 2012, 02:01 PM #7 I had successfully deployed Chrome and used the ADM to add blacklisted and whitelisted extensions. It all worked well.
We edited the blacklist just as you describe [* in the blacklist box]

6th March 2012, 02:41 PM #8 Hmm, that's strange.
It may be to do with some AD inconsistencies on our server as I have inherited quite a setup here.
Perhaps I should just wait until we complete our 2008 R2 migration.

For comparison:
Our domain controller: Windows Server Standard: SP2: 64 Bit.
Clients: Windows 7 Pro: SP1: 64 Bit.

6th March 2012, 03:05 PM #10 Are you using the ADM or the ADMX files?
If you're using the ADMX files, have the clients got the Group Policy Update to enable their use?
